WPC: Frame

When I saw that the weekly WordPress Photo Challenge this week was Frame (click to take part or see others), I realised that framing a photo was a natural past-time for me taking my routine snaps. So here are 15 from my media library (click on to enlarge or see captions)

So do I venture out?  I have important appointments in Bournemouth again today and a quick weather-check brings up police warnings not to venture out unless it is urgent, as Storm Imogen, which hit the British Isles yesterday, is expected to be worse than expected in the South of England today.

UPDATE: 23:25 pm: Well we ventured out when it was a bit ‘calmer’ and decided to keep to main roads through the New Forest avoiding any country lanes – very gusty but manageable. There was heavy, slow-moving traffic on our return, we passed a fallen tree across the A31 which was being cleared very quickly by a team of hard-hat workers. We heard that a tree had also fallen across the A35 (an alternative route between Bournemouth and Southampton). It was dark when we arrived home, but we are glad we took the risk.

(Extra)ordinary: Down-pipe

19th Century English Gothic Revival down-pipe
19th Century English Gothic Revival down-pipe

There are so many old buildings in England that the everyday things attached to them get over-looked. Can you imagine the work that went into this down-pipe (drain, dust-pipe) that enabled it to match the English Gothic Revival architecture of the 1800s and stand the test of time? If I displayed a photo of the building that it is attached to, it would sink back to oblivion.

In response to Weekly Photo Challenge: (Extra)ordinary – Mundane and meaningful objects. Beautiful everyday things.
