I love English doors. I have been taking snaps of people’s doors in Southampton. This has aroused suspicion in passers by. They must wonder if I am an estate agent, a reporter or a thief! Then today this wonderful blogger I follow, ‘Katka on the shore’ got there before me and has posted some great photos of beautiful English doors. Check out her site:
This one’s beautiful. I don’t know where this is, but I’ve always loved doors and houses on Shaftesbury Ave, Upper-Shaftesbury and Welbeck Avenue, I’m sure you know that! 🙂

I love it–the architecture, the plantings, the design.

So many in that style have been bombed, run-down or altered in England. Someone must have really been taking care of it. Thanks for stopping by.

Anytime. I spent a summer in England–vivid memories, wonderful people. I still follow the lovely magazine World of Interiors.

The first time I even thought about doors as photo subjects was after the Word Press Photo Challenge but that being said, I love this door (the pathway leading up to isn’t half bad either); nice job! 🙂

Such beautiful colors and patterns. It reminds me of some sections of Buffalo. The biggest statement is charm.

There are some lovely ones in St Ives where you are, aren’t there? I must say, I am enjoying your posts – quite amusing – must reply to one on gulls. I expect you know that Daphne Du Maurier set her story in Cornwall, before Hitchcock changed ‘The Birds’ setting to that of the California coast?

I’m up near Bude. I didn’t know that about the Birds. Actually, I didn’t know that it was a Du Maurier story at all.

I love the patterned tiles on the path to the door. Beautiful.

Thank you. This is typical of English homes built from the late Victorian period to the early 1930s. This one happens to shine like a star now as the ‘neighborhood’ has somewhat deteriorated.

I have become inspired and will take a closer look at the doors in my city. I have seen some pretty colorful ones here too.
